Magdalena Lewy Boulet was born in Poland in 1973 and immigrated as a child, becoming a U.S. citizen in 2001.
She qualified second at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials but was forced to retire at the 20th kilometer during the Olympic Games.
In her debut in ultra distances, she won the Western States 100 (2015), a 100-mile race among the most prestigious and challenging in the world, in 19:05:21. The following year, she finished fifth in the equally famous Ultra-Trail du Mont Blanc in 28:18:05.
Since 2017, she has consistently performed well, never leaving the podium, with a second-place finish in the Western States 100 (2017) and first-place finishes at the Marathon des Sables (2018), The 9 Dragons Ultra (2019), and Leadville Trail 100 (2019).
